TIVERTON: NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD BEAT MANAGER HOPING TO TACKLE ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD BEAT MANAGER HOPING TO TACKLE ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Neighbourhood policing in Tiverton has been boosted with the recruitment of a new beat manager covering the town centre area.PC Greg Hine joined the Tiverton force last week as neighbourhood beat manager for the Castle ward, which covers the town centre of Tiverton.

PC Hine moves to a front-line policing role having spent two years in Exeter training new recruits to the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary fresh from police training school.

PC Hine said one issue had been raised by a number of members of the public he had spoken to: "People are concerned about anti-social behaviour.

"To be able to improve the quality of life, we need people to come forward and tell us what their concerns are, and then we can concentrate on resolving them."

PC Hine said he had enjoyed the first few days of his new role and was looking forward to meeting more of the businesspeople and residents based in the town centre.

Tiverton's neighbourhood beat manager Sgt Rob Curtis welcomed the arrival of another officer who would be spending the majority of his time on the street.

He said: "It shows the commitment senior officers are putting into neighbourhood policing. They realise the public want officers out on the street.

"The people of Castle ward will now have a local officer who is known to them and they will know how to access him."
