COVENTRY: Swan killed by yob with gun

Swan killed by yob with gun

A WILDLIFE worker in Nuneaton has condemned yobs who shot and killed a young swan in the Camp Hill area of the town.

Geoff Grewcock, who runs the Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in Oaston Road, was called to Stubbs Pool yesterday.

He said: "When we got there, we found a cygnet with its head in the water. It was dead.

"We examined it back at the sanctuary and discovered it had been shot through the head with an air rifle.

"Sooner or later, someone with an air gun is going to blind or even kill a child."
