YOBS are being warned they could lose their homes as Northwich's top cop vows a crackdown on nuisance behaviour.
After a weekend that saw gangs of up to 40 youths roaming the streets with weapons, Insp Pete Minghella, from the town's neighbourhood policing unit, said all avenues would be explored to teach people to respect their community.
He said: "It is reasonable to expect people to have respect for the areas they live in or we will take them to task and look at perusing them through the civil courts, criminal courts of a mixture of both."
The police aim to use ASBOs, and their criminally-sought counterparts CRASBOs, in the fight against anti-social behaviour.
They will also work with local authorities and Weaver Vale Housing Trust to share information that could result in evictions.
Insp Minghella said: "If any of these youths are found to be living with parents who are tenants with Weaver Vale Housing Trust we're willing to do an information exchange because their behaviour is a potential breach of their tenancy agreement.
"The message to parents and youths is that they need to realise their actions could effect where they live."
He added: "It's in parents' interests to make sure their kids act responsibly - it is not a disposable responsibility, you're a parent for life.
"I'm quite prepared to show any CCTV footage to any disbelieving parents.
"There will be a lot of parents shocked that their sons and daughters are hanging around in groups this big with access to alcohol, and the fact that people were walking around with weapons.
"I'm sure if parents knew they would take the necessary steps to make sure their children were not involved and that's what we're trying to achieve - to educate people that this is happening and first and foremost the responsibility rests at home."
