Air gun yobs' death threat
GUN-TOTING hoodie thugs threatened to kill a terrified woman if she called the police – then shot her in the head.
The teenage yobs had already fired several shots from an air rifle that missed the 41-year-old and her sister before making the chilling threat.
The mother-of-one, who does not want to be named, said: “We had heard one shot when we came out, but didn’t realise what it was.
“Then another one came whistling past.
“There were two boys standing in the wood behind the house about 20 yards away.
“I picked up the phone to pretend to call the police and one of them shouted: ‘If you call the police we will f***ing kill you. We know where you live.’
“Then I felt something hit me in the head. It was like being hit by a brick.”
The woman was in the garden of her home at Woodford Drive, which borders Round Wood, Waterloo, when the incident happened at about 2pm on Monday.
She removed a metal pellet that was embedded in her head.
Her sister took her to hospital, where she had to have stitches in the pea-sized wound.
She was also suffering concussion.
She said: “When I saw the pellet my knees went to jelly. Apparently there are five layers of skin surrounding your skull.
“The pellet had gone through four of them.
“They said if it had hit me in the eye I would have been blinded.”
She added that she was now scared to go into her garden.
“I feel distraught,” she said.
“Because we live near the woods I don’t want to go outside.
“To me they are cowards because they wouldn’t come into my garden and do it.
“It makes you feel nervous, because you never know what could happen.”
Sgt Jim Carter appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “This could easily have ended up with the lady losing the sight in one or both of her eyes if she had been turning the wrong way.
“We need to catch these two boys and confiscate the rifle before they do somebody serious damage.”
The suspects are both about 13 and white.
One was slim and wearing a dark hooded top. The other was slim, with dark straight hair and wearing a dark-coloured top with red panelling on the chest and sleeves.
