SUNDERLAND: Teenage yob banned from two estates

Teenage yob banned from two estates

A teenager has been banned from his former estate and warned he cannot return for two years.
Anthony William Davison, 17, formerly of Hawkins Court, Doxford Park, was barred from the estate and neighbouring Moorside after causing a catalogue of problems.

He was given the Asbo by district judge Mr Stephen Earl at Sunderland Magistrates' Court.

The court heard that proceedings for the order had begun a year ago, and Davison's behaviour had improved during the last 12 months.

He was receiving treatment for medical problems which had affected his actions and had moved to another part of the city.

As well as being banned from entering a defined area of Doxford Park and Moorside for the two-year duration of the order, Davison is also prohibited from "possessing any open vessel containing intoxicating liquor in any public place" and "the use or threats of violence in any public place".
Mr Earl said: "I am satisfied that there has been such behaviour that has caused alarm, harassment or distress in the area of Doxford Park and Moorside and that it is necessary, both for his future well-being and in the public interest, for there to be an order preventing him from antisocial behaviour."

Permitting Davison to be identified would allow residents in the exclusion zone to recognise him, should he breach his order, and would also reassure them that the police and local authorities were taking action against antisocial behaviour.

The threat of an Asbo had been hanging over the him for a year and there had ben a marked improvement in his behaviour during that time, said Mr Earl.

"His behaviour has improved, to say dramatically might be overstating it, but certainly considerably in the last six to nine months.

"The number of incidents in that period show a considerable reduction."
