Mr Wild injured his side and broke a rib as he fell


An elderly man suffered a broken rib when he was knocked to the floor and robbed on his 89th birthday.

Joseph Wild had just opened the front door of his home in Ben Street in Clayton, Manchester, on Sunday when the offender came up behind him.

He pushed Mr Wild into the house and on to the floor. As he fell he injured his side and broke a rib.

The offender then took his wallet out of his back pocket and ran off towards Ravensbury Street, police said.

The offender is described as a man in his 50s with a stocky build.

He is said to be about 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall and was clean-shaven.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket and black trousers.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
