VANDALS used lumps of concrete to smash shop windows in Oxford Road in a late night attack.

Three businesses were damaged in the attack – A1 Property Management, Mamma’s Pizza and a new firm set to open this week called Financial Solutions.

People living in the flats above heard the vandals between 3am and 3.30am yesterday and called the owner of A1 Property to inform him of the damage after calling the police.

Owner of Financial Solutions, Mark Foreman, said he hoped the financial advice company would open as scheduled despite the attack.

He said: “We were supposed to be opening this week and we should still be able to but it is a real annoyance to have to get the windows replaced.

“We don’t know if it was a targeted attack but they have made a real mess. We are having to spend a lot of time going through the insurance to get it sorted.”
Lumps of concrete were used and left behind after the attack, and each window panel was smashed at least twice before the vandals ran off.

Mr Foreman added: “No-one saw the vandals unfortunately, it was dark and they ran off pretty quickly.”

Police spokesman Adam Fisher said yesterday: “We have had reports of damaged windows at addresses in Oxford Road in the early hours of this morning.

“A large shop window was cracked in one incident and in the other six windows on the ground floor of an office were damaged.”

Police are appealing for anyone with information to call 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
