MARKET RAISEN: Police to carry out extra checks on Rasen's 'yobbish behaviour

Police to carry out extra checks on Rasen's 'yobbish behaviour

ANTI-social behaviour is blighting the Market Rasen community. That was the consensus of opinion from members of the public who attended the Market Rasen Town Council meeting at the Festival Hall.
Mill Road playing field, the Market Place and the rear of the Festival Hall were all locations where drinking, drug taking and yobbish behaviour were commonplace, councillors were told.

Questions were asked about the effectiveness of CCTV cameras and whether the Gainsborough monitoring centre was being used by the police, were also raised.

Mayor Guy Grainger said the belief it was young people who were always responsible for anti-social behaviour not always held true.

“Anti-social behaviour goes beyond just drinking,” he said.

Rubbish was also an issue according to Market Place businesswoman Kay Spyvee. “Rubbish at the auction shed is disgraceful some mornings,” she said.

The police confirmed random checks at problem locations will now be more regularly carried out and action will also be taken against motorists driving vehicles around town centre car parks to deliberately be a nuisance. The police confirmed such vehicles can be seized.
