South Yorkshire Police - Appeal for Information

Doncaster Police Specials have just completed "Operation Lift" organised by Section Officer (SO) Mark Huby and Special Constable (SC) Toni Mournian, to crack down on shoplifting in Doncaster Town Centre during the summer holidays.

In addition to tackling shoplifting, this Retail Crime Operation, also aimed at reducing anti social behaviour in the Town Centre. Two days of activities took place on Saturday 11 August and Saturday 18 August with SO Mark Huby, SO Toni Mournian, SC Toni Love, SC Julie Sutcliffe, SC Emma Farrell, and SC Helen Taylor.

The team of specials worked closely with the 129 members of the C.A.S.E.D Network and their Store Detectives, officers from HM Customs and Excise and the local Community Safety Wardens.

The results include 2 arrests for shoplifting, 7 Stop and Searches in addition the team dealt with 2 pubic order incidents, 3 antisocial behaviour incidents, one road traffic collision and 1 major Customs and Excise job, where 1800 illegal cigarettes were seized and vital information was passed to HM Customs and Excise, resulting in 2 arrest.

Section Officer Mark Huby said, "The team made a positive difference towards combating anti social behaviour issues in the Town Centre. The C.A.S.E.D Network helped us to gain some vital intelligence on those who cause an annoyance."
