Asbo for prolific vandal
A prolific Rickmansworth vandal has been banned from carrying spray paint and barred from London Underground property under the terms of an Asbo.
Dominic Beeput, 20, of Valley Road, was convicted last month of causing an estimated £250,000 worth of graffiti damage to underground trains and given a six month suspended prison sentence.
Beeput was previously convicted for a spate of graffiti in Rickmansworth High Street after his distinctive Drek' tag was traced by police.
Following his conviction, Three Rivers District Council has won its bid to slap an Asbo on Beeput.
Under the terms of a separate supervision order, he will also be forced to attend a rehabilitation programme.
Councillor Roger Seabourne, chair of the community safety partnership, said: "This sentence demonstrates that perpetrators will be caught and punished and we need residents' vigilance to report anything suspicious to British Transport Police or Hertfordshire Constabulary."
Inspector Steve Betts, of British Transport Police, added: "Criminal damage on the railway infrastructure is both costly and extremely dangerous.
"Vandals attempting to spray difficult surfaces, such as bridges or trains in sidings, are not only putting themselves in danger but also other innocent members of the public."
Anyone with information about crime on the railways should call British Transport Police on freefone 0800 40 50 40.
Residents can report other graffiti to Three Rivers District Council on 01923 776611.
