OXFORD: MP to act against yobs

MP to act against yobs

MP Ed Vaizey
MP Ed Vaizey

MP Ed Vaizey is stepping up the pressure to rid the town of yobbish, antisocial behaviour.

It follows a meeting at which local residents in the Smith's Wharf area told him of their anxieties about increasing night-time trouble among young people.

Mr Vaizey has written to the Vale of White Horse District Council calling for an urgent meeting with councillors, police and developers to sort out the problem.

The area is the latest to suffer from the trouble which has also blighted Charlton.

Mr Vaizey, said: "The main issue is that because there is no fence between the Wharf and the footpath, people use it as a cut-through, which makes it very difficult for residents living nearby."
