YOBS are causing increasing trouble on our trains, although attacks on passengers are down, according to figures out today.

Welsh railway workers suffered almost 15 per cent more assaults in the past year than the previous 12 months, say British Transport Police.

Their report on crime in Wales and the west of England also reveals that public disorder and criminal damage have risen by about 25 per cent.

But the force concluded the railways are generally safer, with fewer offences and more convictions.

The number of violent attacks dropped from 538 to 514. Sexual offences were also down from 39 to 33.
