A DAD who refused to buy booze for a gang of young yobs was kicked in the head THIRTY TIMES and beaten into a coma with a brick.

As two of the thugs who attacked Lee Harris, 29, were caged by a judge for just a YEAR yesterday his furious partner Debra McGuinness branded the sentence “a disgrace.”

Mum-of-five Debra, 40, who found lifeless Lee in a pool of blood, said: “The sentence is not justice. It’s a disgrace. They will be free in months. They must be laughing their heads off. A mob can attack an innocent family, hurl rocks through their windows then smash in a man’s head with a brick and ruin his life.”

Newcastle Crown Court was told that window cleaner Lee was targeted nine months after he and a pal told more than a dozen boys and girls aged 12 to 15 they were too young to drink.

Some of the yobs saw him near his Gateshead home and threw punches and pelted him with stones.

He retreated indoors and a rock came crashing through the window, showering his baby son Jak with glass.

Lee stormed out and was cornered by the thugs. He was battered and left unconscious. One witness said in her statement: “One boy punched the man. I saw him wobble and fall to the ground.

“The group surrounded him, they started to kick him and stamp on his head. He tried to put his hands up but they carried on.” The gang ran off sneering: “Ha ha. He got what he deserved.”

Lee spent nearly two months in a coma, doctors had to pick pieces of brick out of his skull and he needed a tracheotomy to breathe.

He still suffers nightmares and cannot work because he has lost his balance.

Jamie Taylor, 18, and Shaun Armstrong, 17, both of Gateshead, admitted causing grievous bodily harm.

Taylor was given 12 months in a young offenders’ institute. Armstrong, got 12 months’ detention and training.

Lee and Debra had to postpone their May wedding.
