BURNLEY: ‘Hoodies’ assault teenager

‘Hoodies’ assault teenager

A TEENAGER was subjected to an unprovoked assault by hooded attackers as he walked down a Brierfield street.

The 16-year-old was in Heyhead Street when he was approached by two men, and one punched him in the face.

Police said the attack was unprovoked and the victim did not know either of the two men.

He was left with a bruised face, and the attackers ran away into Heyhead Park.

Sergeant Mark Baines, of Colne police, said: "This is very unusual. This lad has just been punched and there really does not seem to be any reason for it.

"Neither of the men has tried to steal anything from him or force him to hand anything over, and the victim did not know them at all so this isn't a typical fight between young lads.

"This sort of thing can really shake people up.

"It may have just been a prank to them, but this kind of behaviour is quite worrying and we are working hard to try to find out who is responsible."

The two men were wearing dark hooded tops, with hoods pulled up.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

The incident happened around 9pm on Thursday, nyone with information about the incident should contact officers on 01282 425001, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
