TELFORD: Hoodies rob ice cream man

Hoodies rob ice cream man

A terrified ice cream seller was robbed at knifepoint by four hooded thugs who forced him to hand over his takings. The gang struck in Brookside, Telford.

Detectives at Telford’s Malinsgate police station today appealed for anyone with information to help them track down the gang.

Three of the gang had knives and another was armed with a baseball bat.

A Telford police spokesman said: “An ice cream salesman was working out of his van when four young males approached him aggressively.

He added: “One of the males then threatened the ice cream salesman with a knife while he was forced to hand over his takings.”

The cash handed over is described as being a “significant amount”.

The victim, who was extremely shaken by the incident, has been unable to give a detailed description of his attackers.

But he has described all four robbers as being young males and that they were wearing hooded tops. The robbery happened at about 5.15pm on Saturday while the salesman was parked up in Brindleyford.

Detective Sergeant Ian Rutherford, of Telford CID, today appealed for anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have witnessed this frightening incident,” he said.

“The weapons involved only serve to make this offence even more serious and the victim took the right course of action in complying with his attackers wishes.”

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Telford police on 08457 444888.
