Dozens of cars damaged by graffiti vandal

POLICE are hunting a vandal who has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage after scrawling a so-called tag into the paintwork of dozens of cars.

Officers are still totting up the full cost of the damage as not all victims have yet contacted police.

A total of 22 cars were damaged at Pye Motors, Holker Street, Barrow, overnight.

Other car owners in Hibbert Road, Titchfield Street, Harrogate Street, Ainslie Street and Newport Street, Barrow, have also been targeted. So far 12 people have contacted police from Hibbert Road alone today.

Shops and banks at the Abbey Road end of Dalton Road have also been daubed with the same tag.

Police have CCTV footage from Pye Motors and are hopeful it will identify the vandal.

In an unrelated incident, several cars in the Newbarns area had tyres slashed in the early hours of yesterday.

The main roads affected were Urswick Green, Minster Lane and Abbotsmead Approach, Bayview grove, Barrow.

Anyone with information on any of the car damage in Barrow is asked to call police on 0845 330 0247.
