EDINBURGH: Woman hit by youth on motorbike

A woman is recovering after being hit by a youth who drove a motorbike at her in Edinburgh.

The 24-year-old was walking home on the footpath on the north side of Willowbrae Road, near to Northfield Terrace, when she was struck on Friday.

It happened at 2045 BST, as she was walking with her father and brother.

Three youths on three dark-coloured, small motorbikes turned and started to drive towards them, knocking her to the ground.

It is not clear whether she was clipped by the bike, or deliberately hit by the rider.

Dark clothing

The three riders continued along Willowbrae Road, and were eventually lost to sight.

The woman was left with minor injuries, which did not require medical attention.

All three youths were wearing dark clothing and dark helmets.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "These bikes were being ridden in a highly irresponsible manner, and while the woman did not sustain any serious injuries, she was still left shaken as a result of this incident.

"We want anyone who witnessed the woman being hit, or who recognises the description of the suspects, to get in touch."
