Graffiti vandal pays thousands for damage
A GRAFFITI vandal has been hit with a massive £6,000 fine and ordered to serve 250 hours of community service after causing £15,000 of damage to the railway.
Jason McFarlane, 19, of Coombes Road, Dagenham appeared before Havering Court last Tuesday, where he was fined £6,450 and ordered to pay costs of £150 after pleading guilty to eight counts of criminal damage at Havering Court last Tuesday (August 14).
A community order for 18 months was imposed and McFarlane was told he must complete the 250 hours within a year.
The teenager was arrested near Dagenham Dock station last December by British Transport Police (BTP) officers.
McFarlane was accused of spraying trains, railway bridges and walls across Barking and Dagenham and Havering with his tag 'MCER'.
