Boy, 11, is shot dead in car park

An 11-year-boy has died after being shot in the neck in the Croxteth area of Liverpool, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 1930 BST in the car park of the Fir Tree public house on Fir Tree Drive.

The boy was rushed to Alder Hey Hospital but police later confirmed that he had died.

Officers are at the scene and police are treating the shooting as a major incident. No-one has yet been arrested in connection with the shooting.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said a bullet had hit the boy in his neck.

The spokesman added: "We treated an 11-year-old with serious gunshot wounds.

"We removed the child to Alder Hey Hospital in a critical condition."
