BURNHAM: Police target antisocial behaviour in Burnham tonight

Police target antisocial behaviour in Burnham tonight

POLICE officers will be targeting anti-social behaviour in Burnham tonight (Friday) as a relentless approach to the issue is taken.

A police presence is expected in most areas of the town centre to crackdown on alcohol related crime in the town after a series of complaints from people that live in the town centre.

Sergeant Ian Kennett said: "The message I would like to send is that anti-social behaviour is not acceptable in Burnham.

"We would encourage people to drink sensibly and to enjoy themselves without making others fearful, and to respect residents and the business community late at night.

"We get many complaints relating to late night noise, and we should do whatever we can to reduce the problem."

PCSO's are also writing to victims of criminal damage asking that they contact police working on the operation if they see anything untoward.

Police say this will allow them to be deployed swiftly and council staff will be able to monitor incidents on the town's CCTV system.

The operation will run from 6pm Friday night to 2am Saturday morning.
