TOTTENHAM / LONDON: Ban for gang who terrorised streets

Ban for gang who terrorised streets

A GANG of thugs who terrorised a Tottenham youth centre have been banned from hanging around the area together.

Gangs of up to 20 youths had intimidated and robbed residents of Milton Road and Willow Walk, Tottenham.

And events at the Milton Road Community Centre even had to be cancelled because of their behaviour.

A dispersal order has now been handed out to the gang. It allows police to move on any groups of more than two people who they suspect could cause trouble.

Councillor Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for enforcement and safer communities, said: "This behaviour is outrageous and the police have our full support in seeking this order.

"We will help them where we can to end anti-social behaviour in this area. Our Anti-Social Behaviour Action Team (ASBAT) has already been involved in trying to halt this behaviour and a dispersal order is thought the best way of dealing with it.

"We must now all watch out to make sure the terms are upheld."

Shaun De Souza Brady, chief inspector of community engagement for Haringey police, said: "This dispersal order is evidence of police and partners' commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour."

As well as the dispersal order, the ASBAT has managed to get injunctions against the gang's ringleaders, banning them from the area and from meeting other gang members.
