New officer to target 'prolific offenders'
Residents and businesses in the Winchester District will benefit from a new Acceptable Behaviour Coordinator who will target the area’s prolific offenders.
The Community Safety Partnership has employed Rebecca Goulding who is based at the Winchester City Council offices.
She will work closely with the Council’s neighbourhood wardens and partnership members such as the police and fire service to reduce the impact of anti-social behaviour in the area.
Rebecca has lived in Hampshire since 2000 and previously worked as a Family Intervention Project worker for Southampton City Council.
Her job involved working intensely with families who were displaying anti-social behaviour that could have lead to eviction from their homes.
“My experience has enabled me to understand both the issues faced by families and the most effective ways to manage their behaviour,” she said. “In my post as Acceptable Behaviour Coordinator I will use these skills to tackle and reduce anti social behaviour within the Winchester District.”
Cllr Frank Pearson, portfolio holder for Environment, Health, and Safety, said: “Our district has relatively low levels of anti-social behaviour but where it does appear it is important that we work hard to stamp out the root causes. Negative behaviour can have a severe impact on individuals and communities and reducing it is a high priority for the City Council as a key member of the Community Safety Partnership.”
