BREEZE blocks have been thrown through car windows and keys scratched down the doors of vehicles in two Somerset villages. Vandals struck in Wedmore and Mark overnight on July 26, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Victim Geoffrey White, of Yarrow Road, Mark, said: "I didn't hear anything overnight and usually my dog barks if something goes on. The next day my neighbour pointed out that my car had been damaged.
"I walked round to the front windscreen to find it had been smashed with a cement block that had obviously been thrown at the car and was lying nearby.
"I use my car for business and was due to drive to Cambridge, but I had to cancel that trip. This was definitely no accident and it was a malicious attack."
Geoffrey, aged 58, drives all over the south of England as a construction engineer. The repairs to his BMW 5 Series are estimated to be in excess of £1,000.
In total, seven cars were damaged in The Causeway in Mark and in and around Church Street in Wedmore.
Sergeant Mike Tripp, of Cheddar police, said: "We have no doubt that the culprit or culprits are local or know the area.
"The incidents happened overnight on July 26 and it looks like they started in Mark and walked to Wedmore.
"But for some reason Blackford, which is on the route from Mark to Wedmore, was not affected."
Police are urging anyone who may have information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, Avon and Somerset police on 0845 456 7000 or email beat officer Stuart Bullett at stuart.bullett@avonandsomerset.police.uk
